Geometry wars 2 – Xbox 360 Arcade – Review

Everyone who has an Xbox 360 has seen Geometry wars It was included with Project Gotham Racing 2. Well Bizarre is back with Geometry wars 2 let’s see if this one lives up to its older brother. So I decided to review the game after i seen a few other good reviews going. Time to get our hands dirty

: Basics:

This time the game play is a whole lot different with game modes 6 of them to be exact.   You shoot enemies and collect the little gems that fall out using them for your multipliers

: Game Modes:

Deadline: basically 3 minutes to get the highest score possible.

King: kind of like king of the hill you have a circle you can only shoot from within that a lot of shooting and gathering of multipliers.

Evolved: much like the old geometry wars no time limits with the new enemies the game has added such as the gates that you can fire off to take out enemies behind you.

Pacifism: This Game type is unique you can’t shoot you only have gates to use as a weapon having the blue diamond’s chasing you and using the gates to cause explosions.

Waves: like the name says a huge swarm of enemies were survival is a must since you only have one life and no bombs what so ever. It’s all about quickness and watching your back.

: Sequence:

Unlike the other game plays this one is very unique you basically want to stay alive and try and finish all 20 levels each of them are very different with many waves of enemies. You can win a level by defeating enemies or wait till time runs down and win. If you die you get a orange X over that level you have 3 lives and 3 bombs using them only when necessary.

: Multiplayer:

Local 4 players Co-op and Vs gameplay playing all 6 modes

: Graphics:

The game has a great look bright neon style colors same enemies as the older game with some new ones such as the plane and the gates and the bubble ones.  Basic graphics but it’s very nice such as the trail you make when flying around it’s very colorful. Explosions are well done making a nice unique style.

: Sound:

This time around they added a techno style tracks to the game a little bit nice touch the game is a lot more upbeat. Pretty good for a basic arcade game now days.

: Final Thoughts:

It’s a great game with addictive gameplay and the price is the major plus only 10$ for many hours of gaming. I personally played this for 7 hours and I loved it it’s challenging with all the new leaderboards and the Co-op play (Local only) it’s a great new fresh of air from a 2 year old arcade game they have really made a really great sequel . I loved how it played only bad thing was I wish they could of added Xbox live Co-op play it would of really made this a awesome game to bring in 4 friends and just goof off but still it’s a great game and well worth the 800MS points (10$) Anyone who owns a Xbox 360 Should really try this out.
