Xbox 360 – WWE Legends of Wrestlemania
Since you probably noticed I’m a huge wrestling fan since i was a kid. Now wwe/wwf has decided to package there biggest and greatest matches in to a game Legends of Wrestle mania. So like a true wrestling fan i had to at least attempt to play this like i did with he TNA game so time to get dirty with this bitch!
Game play :
The game play or the lack their of because instead of you walking up and lets say doing a spinning neck breaker on a legend. you have maybe 15 moves and are limited to that set limits major annoying. Then the actions require a time button combo to finish a major move such as the stone cold stunner you miss your move is reversed or fails a major annoyance. Them going for the arcade style game play was to help bring in new fans but then it also alienates a lot of the core wrestling fans who were really waiting for a game that would bring back wrestling games back to the old days such as the best wrestling games on the N64 WCW/Revenge and WWF no mercy this game doesn’t come even close. the arcade game play gets very annoying after just a few rounds. I thought being able to port your CAW from WWE smack down vs raw 2009 would be a major awesome thing since being able to use it versus some of the legends it’s more of the same old crap your set to a limit so all the moves you used in 09 are now completely not existing. Also on this game you can fight around the ring but since they decided to go “Arcade” you have to combo or get the person or AI in position to get in these area’s thats also a major flaw sometimes it takes forever to get the AI to the right area to get the “Objective” since yes this game has those you are trying to complete set objectives just like a RPG you basically are stepping in the shoes of the person you are playing so you have to let’s say Wrestle mania iron man Shawn vs Bret you have to make him give up while also throwing him threw a table. Hitting him on the stairs … Bret apart of his Objectives Figure 4’s you on the turn buckles. I also found this system annoying because you are set to a time limit on some of them making them super hard to figure out or just a major pain in your ass. This feature required me to play the same match 6 times to just finish it. due to not having enough points at the end of the match. This gets bad when you have finally figured out how to master one of the Objectives and still end up getting pinned (That happened to me many many times).
Graphics :
The game looks great but when you noticed the belts changing images when you win a ladder match or the belts floating above the persons body it really pulls away from effect they trying to bring out. the game’s intros are very nice music & graphics are spot on but then you notice some odd stuff like textures acting odd on some of the wrestlers and the crowd looks like a house of the ugly.
Sound :
Audio is all around pretty good what you would expect all the theme music is here including the old hogan music an the original Big john stud theme.
AI :
Some of the worst AI I’ve ever seen in a game it felt like mortal kombat back in the 90s with the rubber band effects. you would be full health and ready to do a finishing move but then they reverse it and put a move on you and get the pin? how is that possible. Other times the ai just sits in the ring showboating and never wants to come out and fight you making the objectives a pain. other times they just hit , kick none stop like the kid at elementary school who would sit and kick and punch at the same time trying to fend off bully’s. yeah that bad
Final thoughts :
I thought i would really love this game since it’s got all the legends after playing for about 2 hours i was annoyed and pissed they charged 60$ for this. it’s not a full game it’s more like a Download content for 2009 they could of just sold it for 20$ the game doesn’t feel polished what so ever. I noticed me falling through the ring multiple times when i would go and pick a person up. grabbing a person in a corner and suddenly I’m outside… I finished this game in around 6 to 8 hours it’s so dead simple. the only mode i enjoyed was the hall of fame modes to fight your way to the top but once your their thats it this game is flat no wow factor no nothing it’s another lame attempt to make money off wrestle mania and the old classic WWF legends. the shabby AI and the annoying grapple system make it one of the worst wrestling games I’ve played right beside TNA impact. I had major high hopes for this game and even pre ordered it. Turned around after i finished it and eBay it went. Personally if you want to play this game rent it or wait for it to drop to under 20$
