Xbox 360 Review – 007 Quantum of solace

I’ve had a stack of games beside my desk for a few months and I been slacking off so badly I finally did get around to finishing a few of them. One of them was 007 Quantum of solace since it’s a movie tied game I thought what everyone would this game is going to be a major piece of crap. I got a major surprise.  Time to get to the rest of the review.

Story:

You play as 007 James bond you are put on the case to take down an organization that is trying to overthrow a government.  You track them down through major lo-cal’s Such as Casino Royal.

Gameplay:

This game plays very well and it really surprised me. The lock-on system was pretty damn good.   You get access to bonds gadgets and his array of rifles he picks up.  Everything is pretty straight forward and works perfectly.

Controls:

Straight forward simple FPS shooter controls.   It controls very well nothing to complain about in this area. Locking on to cover is very easy no stupid button combos to lock on to a blind. Also being able to take down people with the click of a button combo is handy when you are using close combat.

Graphics:

The graphics are another area this game seriously surprised me it looks super good. Major details like in the Italy mission the water and city looks amazing.  This looks nothing like most movie tie in games such this game actually does look good.  The cut-scenes are very nicely animated and visually they are great. I also loved how the buildings took a bit of damage after being fired at. Nice touch since most movie games never have any type of standard now days.

Audio:

Perfect audio with a nice soundtrack backing it. When the action starts the music does a nice job to get you in the mood to be James bond.  The voice actors are all here from the movie so the voice is perfect and spot on. A major perk next to the last movie game I played terminator salvation that the original cast wasn’t included.

AI:

I was really surprised on this the AI is pretty good they are very smart and can work together to flank you. Such as the mansion level you could be hiding near a flower box and suddenly you see 2 on the right. They then flank to the left to go around you. Very nice on the AI front to see a game with a bit of a challenge.

Final Thoughts:

I was very wary of this game but I was pleasantly surprised. The game hands and plays very good unlike most movie based games. It looks amazing and nice cut and voice acting. I did have a few minor hiccups but it’s not a bad game.  This is the kind of standard most movie games need to achieve too.  It was a fun game to play and not a long and drawn out game forcing you to grind through it just to finish it. only annoyance i did find was sometime the aiming was a bit annoying when i would go to shoot a guy in the head sometimes it didn’t register correctly.
